Bradshaw Electric Vehicles 'In Action in Hospitals'
Clinical Waste Movement @
Cardiff & Vale NHS Trust
The NHS produces over 250,000 tonnes of clinical waste each year.
The collection and movement of this waste is an area where electric vehicles can reduce manual handling and move larger amounts more efficiently. The movement of 1,100 litre “wheelie bins”, a common solution for bulk storage, is a task ideally suited to tow tractors.
Here a T6 tow tractor is used to move clinical waste bins around the extensive site.

Stores Deliveries @
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
On this site an FB2 flat bed vehicle with soft sides is used to move stores items around the large site. It can carry 1.7 tonnes and tow 2 tonnes so is a great workhorse for moving many types of stores items from small boxes to large items of plant.

Gas Bottle Movement @
East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation
Moving gas cylinders around a large hospital is a vital task that this pedestrian controlled vehicle greatly speeds up. The PCF6 with its 500kg load capacity and a custom built bottle cage mean many bottles can be moved with ease by one operator. The simple tiller controls make manoeuvring the heavy load along corridors and through doors very simple.

Food Roll Cage Distribution @
East Lancs NHS Trust
The NHS produces on average 129 million meals per year.
The fast and efficient distribution of the food
presents a considerable handling and logistical challenge.
On this site an FB3 flat bed vehicle has a custom built body incorporating a tail lift. The vehicle is used to move roll cages containing food around the large site.

Pharmaceutical Distribution @
Partnership Health Group
This group operates a number of Treatment Centres in the UK on behalf of the NHS. The movement of clinical supplies around a large facility efficiently, easily and with appropriate security was the challenge for our design team. Our solution was a modified pedestrian controlled vehicle with a lockable roller shutter door. This enables the staff to transport a wide range of clinical supplies over a large area without the need to return to the pharmacy. The water tight secure container, combined with the key activated tiller means it can be left unattended while treating patients.

Food & Laundry Movement @
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust
The NHS produces 9.2 million items of laundry per week.
Several types of vehicle can be used – a pedestrian controlled vehicle can pull all types of trolleys and caged pallets, while small tow tractors can operate within hospital wards and carry or tow several hundred kilos
easily. For movement of laundry between buildings a larger flat bed vehicle can tow or carry several tonnes of laundry.
Here a T2 tow tractor is used move laundry and food trolleys around the site.
